Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, starts on the first day of the first moon according to the traditional lunar calendar. In 2003, Chinese New Year falls on February 1st. Although officially lasting only three days, many people take a week off work.

One day holiday for Communists officially known as International Labour Day.
